Scope and context
The World Food Programme (WFP) in Niger has been responding to the needs of poor men, women, girls and boys since 1968. The Niger Protracted Relief and Recovery Operation (PRRO ) builds on previous operations and is closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goal - SDG-2 (to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture) and SDG17 (to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development). Bridging humanitarian and development programming, the operation is organized around three pillars: 1) an integrated resilience package that supports the identification of successful, cost –effective and scalable models; 2) national capacity strengthening and 3) the development of strategic partnerships.
In Niger, WFP provides an integrated package of interventions in education, nutrition, social protection, rural productive asset creation, local purchase and emergency preparedness that aims to build the resilience of the poorest. Over the course of the multi-year project, the same beneficiaries also receive seasonal and year-round safety nets, support for productive asset creation and help securing access to land. School meals encourage attendance, particularly among girls and nomadic children, while supporting small farmers through local purchase of home-grown food. Nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive activities are implemented within a joint multipartner framework that strengthens government capacity to reduce malnutrition. Local purchase is mainstreamed throughout the operation, with farmer organizations encouraged to build capacity and participate within the value chain. Pillar one also includes emergency preparedness
Within this framework and to support its communication and reporting strategies and materials, WFP needs regularly updated professional photos of its intervention and beneficiaries over the whole project cycle and seeks to applications of competent candidates to build a Roster of Professional Photographers.
