Duration Appointment:   Indefinite subject to successful completion of probationary period

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week).

DUTIES:  Conduct electrical projects as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or the Facilities Maintenance Manager (FMM) on United States Government (USG) controlled properties in Niamey, Niger.  Train assigned apprentices. Perform all journeyman electrical related work using proper tools, materials and procedures as directed by the corresponding maintenance supervisor or the FMM.  Install, repair, and wire various types of electric equipment as needed for projects assigned.  Read drawings, sketches and blueprints as required for each project. Inventory supplies and assist with ordering and purchasing of tools and material as required. Clean shop and work area, maintain and make repairs to tools as required.  Make routine checks for fire and safety hazards and report all discrepancies to the appropriate authority.     

EDUCATION: Completion of elementary school is required.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two (2) years of journeyman electrician experience required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of various electrical systems and equipment is required.

LANGUAGE: Level 2 (Limited knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing French and local language (Hausa and/or Zarma) is required; Level 1 (Rudimentary knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required.
