Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Contexte:

IOM Niger implements a series of activities in ??migration management, direct assistance to migrants, emergency situations, community stabilization and border management support, tackling the main migration and displacement challenges in the country, to provide services to vulnerable migrants and displaced persons in support of the priorities and policies of the Government of Niger. The governance units oversee the implementation of a series of activities on migration coordination in relation to migration policies, the Global Compact for Migration, the promotion of safe regular migration in collaboration with government institutions responsible migration in Niger.

Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager of the Governance Unit, the candidate will perform the various tasks assigned by the Governance Officer.

 

SECTION 3

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the candidate will :

1. Assist the Project Manager by drafting and reviewing country-level project reports, ensuring their external dissemination, and identifying necessary follow-up needs;

2. Assist in the development of  new monitoring and evaluation tools, in close collaboration with the regional monitoring and evaluation officer of the regional office;

3. Carry out monitoring visits in the field according to the needs identified by the project manager;

4. Support the project manager in the general implementation of project monitoring and evaluation activities;

5.  Participate in desk and/or field research, based on the results of findings and recommendations obtained through monitoring and evaluation activities

6. Keep a calendar for monitoring activities and organize regular meetings with the other units involved in the project. Facilitate, coordinate and monitor activities with other units involved in the execution of the project.

7. Perform various monitoring tasks with a high degree of confidentiality and tact. Organize monthly meetings with the governance team and share the progress monitoring activities.

8. Control and update the activity monitoring database and actively participate in the drafting of activity reports.

9. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor(s);

Required Qualifications and Experience

EDUCATION

University degree in social sciences, statistics, economics, or an equivalent combination of training and professional experience from an accredited academic institution with minimum three years of experience.

• Very good computer skills

EXPERIENCE

  •  Experience in project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Very good computer skills, including Excel and MS Office suite. Knowledge of data processing software (SPSS, Stata, GIS, etc.) is a distinctive advantage.
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Experience in governance and international relations.
  • Good diplomatic skills and administrative knowledge.
  • Experience working with United Nations agencies or other International Organizations is an asset.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Able to read and respond to emails in a professional manner
